Ferret Diet: What Should a Ferret Eat?
Once again Ferrets First Rescue put out a quick video on the proper ferret diet. In this 3 minute video they explain:
Ferrets are Obligate Carnivores – They only should have meat and meat products
- No Carbohydrates
- No Vegetables
- No Fruits
- Avoid Foods with Grains
Ferret Food Should Be:
- High in Protein 36-40+%
- High in Fat 22%
- Low in carbohydrates
- Avoid grain and sugar
The better food, the less they eat and less they poop. Feeding your ferret cat food can work because cat’s are also obligate carnivores
What are Good Ferret Treats?
Many ferret treats are NOT good for ferrets. Chicken cartilage and soy protein. Soy sticks are digestable and cleans teat. Bandits is a an okay brand but it is not the best.
